EYELID AESTHETIC

EYELID AESTHETIC

Eyelid aesthetics is a set of surgical procedures performed by a plastic surgery specialist to remove the sagging skin and excess muscle tissue and stretch the tissues around the eye, applied to the lower and upper eyelids. Eyelid aesthetics can be performed on the upper lid, lower lid or both. If you want to improve the appearance of your eyelids or to resolve functional problems with your eyelids, eyelid surgery can revitalize the area surrounding your eyes. The eye area is one of the areas where aging effects are most pronounced. We may be exposed to physical wear at a younger age due to many reasons such as busy work pace and changes in food. Droopy eyelids, bags under the eyes, wrinkles around the eyes, crow's feet can be counted among these abrasions and deformations. Eyelid surgery is usually performed under local anesthesia with sedation. The fact that the patient is not fully sleeping under general anesthesia is both more comfortable and safe for the patient and more convenient for the doctor when the patient's cooperation is needed. Since the eyelids are movable tissues, unlike the nose or breast, the surgeon can ask the patient to open and close their eyes, look up and down, and check the necessary symmetry settings during the operation. Operations are terminated within 1-2 hours, although the time varies according to the method to be applied. Upper lids and lower lids can be corrected in the same session or separately. The patient is not subjected to general anesthesia. Only the cream with anesthetic effect is applied to the relevant area and the area is aimed to be numb. Then, laser shooting is carried out with the help of the device. No incision is made and no stitches are made. The use of drugs such as aspirin and antibiotics should be discontinued at least 15 days before the procedure due to the risk of increasing bleeding tendency during the operation. Likewise, smoking and other tobacco use should be stopped 2-3 weeks before, as it delays wound healing.

Herbal supplements should not be taken during this period, as they may cause unexpected effects. While resting after the procedure, keeping the head high with a few pillows helps to reduce edema. In the first days after the procedure, there may be complaints in the form of tension, stinging and burning around the eyes. These complaints can be resolved with simple painkillers.

After the operation, thin tapes are attached to the incision line and a dressing is made around your eyelids with moist cotton or gauze. In the postoperative period, ice application around the eyes is very important in terms of reducing the bruising and swelling that may occur. During this period, it is necessary to keep the head high and avoid heavy physical activities, especially for the first day. Lubricating ointment and cold compresses can be applied, and in some cases, your eyes may be loosely covered with gauze after your procedure is complete. During the healing process, there may be some swelling, bruising, irritation, dry eyes that can be controlled with medication, cold compress and ointment first. Irritation at the incision site is also possible. Patients quickly return to their normal lives after the operation. Patients can usually go out 2-3 days after surgery and continue their social life. However, it will be more appropriate to rest at least a week for 10 days until the stitches are removed in heavy activities and professions that require heavy physical activity. In the periods following recovery, the eyelids will preserve their new structure and health for many years, which is one of the advantageous parts of the operations. It is necessary to take a break from heavy sports for about 2-3 weeks. Make-up can be done 1-2 weeks after the stitches are removed.
